This particular 998S Final Edition, chassis number ZDM1SB5V44B023357, is a 2004 model year showing just 7,020 miles from new.
It is 1 of approximately 562 Monoposto Final editions produced and remains in excellent condition.
According to the included service records, it appears the bike has had 2 owners in its lifetime, with the first residing in Frenchtown, New Jersey.
Service records are available starting in 2005 and they show this 998S FE being maintained regularly by industry Ducati Specialist Fast By Ferraci of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania as well as Rizzon Cycle of Middlesex, New Jersey.
Shortly after purchasing the bike, in April of 2005, this Ducati was treated to a set of carbon fiber slip-ons, a power commander, and a performance air filter, all of which were installed by Fast By Ferraci. Given the low original mileage, service work is relegated to basic maintenance items such as oil changes and a 6,000-mile belt service completed in 2010.
The current owner and consignor purchased the bike from the original owner about 5 years ago and it rode it sparingly.
When we received the bike on consignment, we immediately took the bike to local marque specialist,
The Spare Parts LLC of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who completed a belt service, clutch/brake fluid flush and refill, replaced the battery, as well as completing a once-over inspection of the bike to make sure it was in top running condition. As it sits today, this 2004 Ducati 998S FE remains in excellent condition both mechanically as well as cosmetically.
The paint across the bike is smooth and consistent and the bike presents exactly as you would expect from a collectible example with low mileage.
There are some blemishes that come along with normal use, such as some minor stone chips on the lower fairing behind the front wheel, as well as a very minor hairline crack on the corner of the rider’s right side headlight.
Mechanically this Ducati is in fantastic condition, providing smooth and powerful acceleration, quick and deliberate shifts, and controlled, issue free braking. The bike wears a set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tires with a DOT code of the third week of 2008.
While they still appear plenty adequate with ample tread life left, they will need to be replaced based on time. This 2004 Ducati 998S Final Edition represents the ultimate version of the iconic 998 generation of bikes.
A true collector’s piece from its release, this version remains a fantastic addition to any Ducati aficionado’s garage.
Included with the sale of this Ducati are the factory books, tools, spare key still in the protective plastic sheath, as well as available service records dating back to 2005.
