1. Preparation

2. Installing Backer Board

A backer board provides a stable and moisture-resistant base for the tile. Apply mortar to the cement floor and place sheets of backer board on top, ensuring they are level and tightly fitted. Secure the backer board with screws or nails specifically designed for the purpose.

3. Thinset Mortar Application

Apply a layer of thinset mortar to the backer board using a notched trowel. The thickness of the mortar should be slightly less than the depth of the trowel notches. Spread the mortar evenly, working in small sections to prevent it from drying out.

4. Tile Placement

Carefully place the ceramic tiles onto the thinset mortar, starting from a corner and working your way outward. Press the tiles firmly into the mortar and use spacers to maintain uniform gaps between them. Check the level of each tile as you go along.

Once the tiles are set, allow the thinset mortar to cure completely. Then, apply grout to the spaces between the tiles using a grout float. Work the grout into the joints, making sure to fill them completely. Remove any excess grout with a damp sponge.

6. Sealing

After the grout has dried, apply a sealant to the tiles and grout to protect them from moisture and stains. Use a damp cloth to apply the sealant and allow it to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.

7. Trim and Caulk
