SPC Rigid Core Flooring Installation Guide

Before You Begin

Before beginning your SPC rigid core flooring installation, ensure you have all the necessary materials and tools. You need underlayment, flooring planks, spacers, a utility knife, a tapping block (or hammer), and a measuring tape. Additionally, clean the subfloor thoroughly and check for any unevenness or moisture.

Installing the Underlayment

If your subfloor is uneven, install an underlayment to create a smooth base for your flooring. Start by rolling out the underlayment and placing it over the subfloor, ensuring it over laps slightly. Secure the underlayment with tape or staples.

Installing the SPC Planks

Begin installing the SPC planks from a corner of the room. Place the first plank in place and ensure it is flush against the wall and corner. Use spacers to maintain a consistent gap between the planks and the wall. Tap the next plank into place using a tapping block (or hammer) by gently tapping along the long edge until it clicks into place. Continue this process, row by row, until you reach the other side of the room.

Cutting Planks

You may need to cut planks to fit around obstacles or to complete the installation at the end of a row. Measure and mark the plank where you need to cut it, then use a utility knife to score the plank several times. Snap the plank along the score line by bending it back and forth until it breaks.

Finishing Touches

Once the flooring is installed, remove the spacers and install baseboards or moldings around the perimeter of the room to cover the expansion gap. You can also seal any gaps between the planks and the baseboards with a caulk that matches the flooring color.

Additional Tips

* Allow the SPC planks to acclimate to the room temperature for at least 24 hours before installation. * Do not install SPC flooring over radiant heating systems. * Do not install SPC flooring in areas with high moisture content, such as bathrooms or laundry rooms. * Maintain a consistent temperature and humidity level in the room after installation to prevent buckling or warping.
